I am a new subscriber to Seeing the Everyday, and thoroughly enjoyed my first issue; the holiday issue. The stories, photo essay, and expressions inspired me with specific ideas for making the holidays more meaningful for my family.
I loved Janalee’s story of “Secret Pals.” They exchanged names on Thanksgiving at the end of the day, and the name they chose became their Secret Pal for Christmas. They each made something by hand for their Secret Pal and enjoyed thinking of that one family member for all of the weeks leading to Christmas.
Tomorrow is Thanksgiving and we will start the Secret Pal tradition in our family. Our kids our so excited! I love the opportunity this gives our children to learn to make things by hand, but more importantly to feel charity for another family member.
Thank you for the inspiring ideas and the reminder to make the most of everyday, especially with those we love.
